I have had the opportunity to play with Ken’s new uber phone. Its size reminds me of the original Motorola Startac. It’s also rather heavy by today’s standard.
The screen is gorgeous, and the built-in camera is easy to use. The handwriting recognition software works well, and is more intelligent than Graffiti on the Palm.
Opera works extremely well on the P800, and geared up with the GPRS network and the excellent screen, unlike most WAP phones, is actually a very usable environment for mobile Internet.
I played with a car racing game that is controlled by the thumb jog and a few soft buttons on the screen. The 3D effect is rather good, coupling with the vibrating motor effect, the machine provides an excellent gaming experience.
I have not played with the calendar and the to-do list, so can’t comment on how useful these are.
Sony Ericsson seems to have a real winner here. This might well be my next mobile phone.
