A 44 years old medical researcher, presumably having received advanced education, worked on potentially contaminated materials w/o protective gear, didn’t do anything about it, bumped off to Singapore, developed fever, didn’t think too much about it, and did not realize he had contracted SARS until he developed diarrhea on December 15!
Not to mention all the stories about Taiwanese health workers missing from duty during SARS. And then there was this medical doctor who went to Japan on a tour of questionable behaviour after contracting SARS.
Taiwanese, largely being the Han people, speak Mandarin and Fokkin, read and write Chinese characters, want independance. Now I suspect that China may be better off without them. The land has always been and will always be part of China. The Republic of Taiwan could keep the people.
A Taiwanese (a client?) is visiting our office. She had a bad cough yesterday and was sitting in my seat using my workstation during my day off, leaving quite a few of her long hair around. Good thing a colleague told me about it, so I wiped my phone, keyboard and mouse w/ antiseptic handwashing gel, just as a precaution.
Update (18:29) Taiwan SARS Victim Wanted to Die at Home from Reuters. Moron. Beats that guy who escaped from his home in Amoy Garden and went to Tuen Mun Hospital w/o warning anyone, or that guy in Junk Bay who locked himself in refusing to be taken to the hospital.
