A Director of the Commercial Radio, Winnie Yu, in response to a newspaper advert, just announced on this morning’s Teacup programme that they are negotiating with Tai Pan on terminating Tai Pan’s contract. She stressed that Tai Pan was not sacked.
Tai Pan’s partner Lam is on leave right now, but Yu revealed that Lam had indicated his wish to leave Commercial Radio to spend more time w/ his family.
Yu stressed that Commercial Radio never gave any of their programme presenters any pressure, and she was disappointed that the three presenters budged from outside pressure. She claimed Tai Pan’s refusal to guarantee not to be absent from duty again in the future led to their decision.
Update (29/7 7:35): Last night Yu and Tai Pan were both on CR1. Tai Pan revealed that Commercial Radio contacted him in June while he was in Vegas for termination of their contract, read: he was sacked.
Tai Pan is and Winnie Yu are due to appear on Teacup this morning.
Wong Yuk Man left a message on CR’s message board last night, indicated that he will also likely be sacked.
More Update (29/7 9:28): Winnie Yu is under enormous pressure from the phone-in crowd.
