Atmosphere Taken to the Extreme

August 31st, 2004 · 2 Comments

I have had the misfortune to go to this “new style” Hakka restaurant in Tuen Mun Town Centre yesterday.

The food was edible. It was fairly crowded but I have seen worse. The biggest problem was the noise level. There was no fake ceiling in the main hall, so all the noise was bounced back into the hall by the hard concret ceiling. Some people might call it “atmosphere”, but I call it torture.

In fact, I think the restaurant in question should provide their employees working there with ear protectors to protect them from permanent hearing loss. The irony is of course that waiters and waitresses with ear plugs can’t do their jobs. Get the Labour Department involved, and we might look at the restaurant shutting down.

Foodwise, I find just about all local crowded restaurants I’ve been to aren’t any good.

That’s Hong Kong, where you live.
