The Lady is part of a team responsible for implementing a Quality Education Programme for this year, on getting the kids at her school to read more. They have got the government funding, and are looking in acquiring more books for their library.
Last week Joy-Shan Lam wrote an article in the HKEJ on Tin Tin, so I passed it to the Lady. She got quite interested, and picked up two Chinese edition Tin Tin (the Blue Lotus and Tin Tin in Tibet) at the Commercial Press Bookshop in Tuen Mun (w/ 15% discount!). The Lady was quite impressed with the Chinese translation (i.e. good grammar and style, and easy to read), and will be recommending the whole series for the school library. I suppose she could also recommend the English version to her English-teaching colleagues.
The typical narrow minded local teachers who seldom read think lowly on comic books, regarding them as entertainment and bad for school kids. How wrong could they be!
Highly recommended.
