The New Prince

I finished this book a couple of weeks ago.

Nice, short and to the point, this book is easy and fun to read. The author Choi considered the 1st of July March in 2003 the end of an era, and a good time to conclude TCH’s 7 years of rule. He wrote much about TCH and Anthony Leung the ex-FS. He also jabbed at some of TCH’s senior cabinet members. This book is however by no means all negative, as Choi pointed out the failures of some of the HKSAR Govt’s senior officials but at the same time gave good examples from successful politicians and statesmen (sadly, none works for the HKSAR Govt).

Choi mentioned in his book that some of the ideas in his book were taken from the columns he wrote in various newspapers. I have not read any of his columns, but Choi was guest presenter at Commercial Radio for a few months after Tai Pan and Wong Yuk Man quitted their shows, and I had heard on his radio programmes most of his ideas in this book. Given that Choi being a very high profile academic, unless one has been living in a cave since 7/2003, one would find nothing particularly new in this book, althou it is nonetheless a nice summary of Choi’s observations and a worthwhile commentary of the downfall of TCH’s govt.

This book must have sold quite well: the one I bought only recently is the 5th print. I have also just noticed that this book was published by CUP Magazine, which is now under TOM. So Tai Pan must have sold his venture to TOM.

I also finished the sequel to this book last week, which I shall write about soon.

In the eyes of communist supporters, 蔡 is 歪論王.
In the eyes from God, communist party is doom to hell.
