For personal reaons I had to send some important documents to Macau via courier on Friday. My employer enjoys deep discounts w/ Fedex so I called up their customer service. HK$64.XX, but it wouldn’t arrive until the 8th according to their computer!
Made some enquiries with the Post Office’s SpeedPost. Both members of staff of the Post Office were polite. The one at the mail room at the IFC was even friendly. I went down to the CPO at around 10:45, paid HK$65 to send the package, and was told that the package would arrive in Macau at around 15:30 hours and be dispatched immediately. The documents arrived at their final destination at around 16:30 hours. Can’t beat this service.
The PO staff are generally very polite. Our local postman is friendly and everybody love him. You could tell that he loves his job, and I have no doubt that this is the norm at the PO. Althou postmen are well respected, parents aren’t cheered by their kids telling them that they want to become a postman when they grow up. Well there is always the postmasters, who get very decent salaries.
These days far too many people hate their jobs and hate the pay. Being able to love one’s job and be happy enough with the pay is good fortune.
