PowerPoint in Schools

I have been told that kids in primary schools these days need to do their assignments w/ Microsoft PowerPoint.

There are two problems with this latest spin in school IT education:-

  1. Why PowerPoint? Why not something better, or something free, or something cool and geeky?
  1. PowerPoint is evil, and makes you stupid.

    Public speaking is hard. PowerPoint is easy. PowerPoint doesn’t make public speaking any easier. Mastery of PowerPoint certainly won’t make a poor public speaker into a good public speaker. The teachers involved in this cirriculum based on PowerPoint have the priorities totally wrong.

    Hi Tin,

    I recalled my memory that Cisco’s TAC engineer is one of my technical assistant daily. They sent me a reply in one techhical case. Here is his signature.

    Don’t send me PowerPoint!

    The point is that Cisco uses a lot of PowerPoint internally and externally.
