Just received my last batch of Kodachrome slides today. I sent the roll off to Switzerland on 5/1/2005, so it took over two months. The UK shop closed down as my previous roll before this was sent to the UK shop but returned from Switzerland.
I am going to use a proper lightbox to view the slides, but initial impression is, they are nowhere as bright as Kodachrome used to be! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it took me quite a few months (this roll contains pictures of our trip to Tai O in 3/2004) to finish the whole roll before I sent it off for development. Anyhow the cynic in me suspect that it is Kodak’s conspiracy to try to kill off Kodachrome.
Another thing is, a few of the photos are reasonable photo essay quality, and would be great to put up on the web for everybody to enjoy. Only problem is, I hate scanning, and Kodachrome slides are a real pain to scan. So, fat chance of those pictures ever turning digital in the near future.
It is probably nostalgia, but Kodachrome used to be really nice. So nice that Paul Simon wrote a song about it and his my Pentax camera.
I’ll now go sob and play w/ my Nikon D70, which has no soul.

Bring your TiBook over, download the Minolta scanner software and firewire it up to my Scan Elite 5400…

Hey, don’t change Paul’s lyrics.
That’s Nikon… ”..I’ve got a Nikon camera…”
