After I was left with Dad’s Topcon Ultracrap LCD panel, it is rather difficult to swallow something like another LCD panel sight unseen. That might be the reason why Apple could sell their 23” for 50% more than Dell’s without discount and Dell still have to further discount their’s even already being 2/3 the price and an extra 1” larger in size.
I love my PB17’s sight and sound so much I have been staying up till 5 in the morning with it almost every night since! Already I hear voices and I almost talk back, and I think if I kept this up for a couple of more nights, I might start hallucinating.
About that Internet Jukebox thingy… when not PB17ing, Fujitsuing the music just don’t cut it unless it is piped thru the Nait5 and the Sonus Faber.
What you need is a pair of these http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er4.asp get the P model which doesn’t need a headphone amp. The problem is, the headphone out of the PB is exceptionally good, so you may still not be happy with the sound coming out from the Fujitsu.
Just give up, and get an iPod and the Ety ER4P. The battery lasts longer than any PB anyway.
As for the LCD, reviews from folks have been very good. Dell computers might be cheap and the bottom of the line models are rather crap, but the quality of their displays has never been a problem.
This Dell 24” upsets the market for big LCD panels, and I expect Apple to drop the prices on their LCD panels within the next few months if not earlier to remain competitive.
And don’t kid yourself—-people do not buy Topcon LCD panels for their high (or otherwise) quality.
