Impressionism at the Hong Kong Museum of Art

I took Jasper to see the Impressionism exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art this morning, together w/ my folks and Mike. We got there at around 10:30, and queued for about half an hour before we got in. HK$30 per head, HK$15 for the senior folks, and free for Jasper.

It would have been far more enjoyable if:-

  1. the lighting were better. All the drawings looked like they were about 1 to 2 stops underexposed. We couldn’t see much of the texture of the oil paintings. When I look at the pamphlet and find the 3”x3” photos of the pictures look better than the original, there is something seriously wrong, and it’s not my eyes.
  2. there were more space. The chamber for the exhibition was tiny.
  1. the alarms were less intrusive. Bloody annoying.

OTOH, Huang Yongyu at 80: An Art Exhibition was far more enjoyable. Excellent stuff, and highly recommended.
