Whenever someone screams “patriotism!”, something bad always happens. When the government does it, it is almost certain a diversion of the people’s attention from more important issues. Last time GWB did it, his fellow countrymen lost their lives, freedom and liberty, and innocent people thousands of kilometers away from his own soil also lost their lives, and this tragedy is still ongoing.
Call me a cynic, but without government approval and support, all the anti-Jap marches and demonstrations in China wouldn’t have been possible. The Communist Govt is playing w/ fire. It is easier to control the people when they are quiet and content. Stir them up, and they may no longer be so easy to control.
So, is it possible to boycott Japanese goods?
Apparently this idiot asked the cameraman whether he was a Chinese for using a Japanese-made TV camcorder. Well to be quite honest, w/o TV camcorders we wouldn’t have our electronic media, and AFAIK only the Japs make pro-level camcorders, so in this case boycotting Japanese goods is actually a bad idea.
I wouldn’t want to do w/o a decent digital camera, but they all bear Jap brands.
Otherwise, yes, it is quite possible to do w/o Japanese goods.

To the “democratic” critics from another country, all citizen riots within the rioters’ own country against the rioters own local government is citizens’ right and freedom, and therefore should not be stopped at any costs by that government; but all riots in that same foreign country against an outside foreign government most be stopped by the rioters’ own local government in anyway.
Boycotting and destroy imported goods are silly. All imported goods have already been imported and paid for mostly by local businesses. All destroyed goods will be replaced that much sooner when the boycotting stops; so the boycotted country earns even more that much sooner.

Well no the Japs don’t really care about anti-Jap marches and demos, and wouldn’t give a toss about Chinese people beating the riot police or each other up. Now if in the course of the marches and demos Japanese people get hurt, or Japanese property gets damaged (both happened), then I think they have every right to complain.
Calling for destruction of Japanese goods is just sour grape: the Chinese people lust after Japanese goods, and traders made good profit, and now the envious fanatics want the traders to suffer for dealing with the Japanese and Japanese goods. Yihetuan mentality in the 21st century, this is just great.

The Japanese Foreign Minister explicitly told China yesterday that the Chinese Government must stop all protests against Japan immediately. Meanwhile, the home of the Chinese Ambassador in Japan gets partially spray painted in red, but the Japanese said it’s no vandalism. Maybe to the Japanese, it’s more like graffiti. They do seem to have a thing with down sizing crime.
Let’s just say breaking Japanese goods is just a form of consumption…

Jasper could explicitly tell me to play with him all day, doesn’t mean I would or I could. Jasper could and often does claim that he’s been an absolute angel, but in actual fact he’s been a real pain. Between the two governments of China and Japan, one is definitely an ape, and how do you due with an ape? Be an ape. So we have two apes doing a piss match. I feel sorry for the Japs for falling so low.
If it’s a Sony, no action is necessary, it just falls apart.
