OOH, this (unwanted) publicity and witchhunting are definitely OTT. OTOH, she did it in public, so there is no privacy to speak of. I find ComaKing’s comment most interesting:-
This is not punishment. This is personality hacking. She is an error in the social program, which happens to be open source. We all contribute. The socially conscious “hacker” that posted the error, is merely attempting to utilize the net to affect a correction for this faulty code. I would say that this error would not occur again. This was an effective patch for the error in the program. I would like to see more patches of this type. In fact, a worldwide error reporting system should be initiated.
The thing w/ certain societies is that, errors are so prevalent, you wouldn’t know where to start patching, and might need to wipe it out and start afresh.

Single person extremist monarchy, or millions of extremists together forcing the same thing on others makes no difference. The problem of absolute power remains, just a different number of people are involved.
