I was planning to spend the day at the university library, but I got up late, and couldn’t be bothered with the travelling, so I changed my mind, intending to spend the day doing some reading and some programming at home. A few (yes) sisters-in-law and nephews said they would come to swim. This is fine, as they do this fairly often, and I’d just lock myself in my own room.
The Internet was exceptionally slow this morning. The ALM light on the ADSL modem was flashing. Althou the router indicated connection, and pinging my ISP’s email server worked, data was just not coming in. I called HKNet’s customer hotline. The first chick insisted that I should connect a workstation directly to the ADSL modem and connect from there. Bullsh*t Alert™ went immediately to full blast, and I only wanted to get rid of her. The 2nd guy I talked to arranged for a PCCW technician to come check my line around noon tomorrow, and entered a request to reset my line from the central switch in the afternoon.
Then the few sisters-in-law turned out to be the whole of the in-law family (sans my father-in-law and those nephews who never show up), 24 of them. Jasper was pleased to see his cousins and his cousin’s son slightly older than himself. Good thing we all went swimming shortly after the mah john game started. My sister-in-law returned my diving mask and snorkel so I played with them in the pool for a bit. I also got some new nice swimming goggles to try out.
We swam till around 18:00 hours. I changed and excused myself for the evening. They are going for seafood at Sam Shing, which I am not too fond of anyway.
I did some reading at the local Fairwood, and went for a nice walk on the local football field barefeet.
Well it’s 21:48 hours, and my line is still not working.
I should have gone to the university.
