appears to be busted. A reset didn’t help, but gave me the unhappy iPod.
Update (2/9): Took my iPod to the Apple authorized service provider at Times Square in Causeway Bay. Waited for just over half an hour to be served. The chick said it’d probably be two weeks. Moral of the story: get your Apple kits from a good Apple dealer, not Fortress/Broadway. It’d probably still take two weeks to be fixed, but at least you don’t need to wait half an hour, assuming that the dealer is happy to take you kit in.
