We paid a visit to Mingo’s Headphone Club (the shop) yesterday. Very interesting idea, and a great range of headphones, amplifiers etc. to play with.
I like the MEIZU Miniplayer M6, which is nice, thin, has a big screen (for its size) and sounds okay. It’s also cheaper than the iPod Nano and has more features, and I could see it being popular.
The AKG K81DJ headphone sounds very good to me. The only problem is the design: it is too small for my head.
The Sennheiser MX90VC earphone looks good, sounds great, and I like the piston-like volume control. It’s kinda expensive (~HK$500) for a non-IEM earphone, but I could see this as a very nice chick-gift. No good for me, ‘cos I need the isolation of IEMs when commuting.
I also played with the Ultimate Ears Super.fi Pro 5, which is very nice, and is probably preferable to my Ety ER4p for everyday use/pop/rock. Well at the mo my Ety IEMs are nearly perfect for me and I like them a lot, no point chasing the “perfect” earphone.
Last night I got my AKG 501 out and listened to it for an hour or so again, and then went to bed, happy.
