At17 Live at the AsiaWorld-Expo

December 22nd, 2006 · 1 Comment

For the last few days I have been listening to At17’s Live CD of their latest performance at the AsiaWorld-Expo.

There is no question that there is a big generation gap (more like a few big gaps) between the At17 duo and this old fart here, so how come I enjoy it so much? While I like their music, audio-wise and musical-wise they have plenty of room to grow.

Maybe like the older gentleman in his 50s dating a 20-years old young woman looking for the feeling of young life and energy, I am looking for the same thing in At17’s music. I suddenly feel a little dirty.

Don’t know what you or anyone see in them.

Week after week, AT17 kept yelling the title song of their TVB live music show. It wasn’t singing at all. There was zero improvement over the months singing the same title song over and over again. They don’t chorus well in any song with anyone. At most, Ellen is slightly more than just a pretty face for she can play the guitar and I also think she has a better sounding voice than Eman despite Eman being the lead singer.

Much needed is practice. And that goes for most local singers.
