We’ve just bought it. The console. Wii Sports. Wii Play (w/ additional control set). Rayman Rabbit. The shop threw in a pair of doms for the controllers, but they stink of kerosene, so I think I’ll just throw them away.
Folks said the Wii was easy to set up. These people have never had a modern Apple computer.
I plugged the component cable into my amplifier and our tiny (and ancient!) 14” TV. I got sound from the amplifier, but I didn’t get any image(!) I am going to plug it into my old man’s gorgeous plasma TV and see whether I need a new cable or a new TV.
The Lady is quite disappointed with the new toy not working.
Update(22/2 23:00): Plugged the console into the plasma w/ the AV cable. Still sound and no picture. Used the Component AV cable instead, and got sound AND picture. Went back to the shop and swapped the cable. Sound and no picture. Something wrong w/ with the console, bugger. Good thing I took out the service plan the shop offers.
Yeah, it was a lot of fun, and we have yet to get to Rayman Raving Rabbids.

They are Japanese/US versions. So it is therefore most likely NTSC as opposed to PAL whereas your ancient 14” TV could be PAL only rather than a “Multi”.
