We have decided to be rid of trans fat in our daily diet. So, no more Oreo (in fact, no more commercial biscuits) for Jasper. The problem is, without the general public becoming fully aware of it, trans fat has creep into all the manufactured foodstuff. If any manufacturer claims that a certain food product being sold in Hong Kong is made of vegetable oil, you can assume that it is trans fat.
This includes the daily bread we consume. We have therefore bought a Kenwood Bread Maker, for HK$690 from the local Justco to make our own morning bread. The secret in making good bread is the ingredients, and most importantly, flour. For the first two attempts I only had bleached white flour. The product was kinda hard, but quite ediable. Then we bought some unbleached flour and the product was okay. Now I am going to be a bit more adventurous and see if we could do fluffy white bread.
Unlike most kitchen utensils, the bread maker is easy to clean. I am quite pleased with it so far.
