May 31st, 2007 · Comments Off

I have just been told that it is afterall possible to fail a course, even after submitting the course works. It has happened to someone in our year.
As for me, I am quite pleased with my grades.

Barcelona

May 31st, 2007 · 2 Comments

I have decided to respond to V’s enquiry on my own blog, ‘cos I don’t want her cat to eat it all.
When I visited Bacelona last summer, I could only say “gracias”, and couldn’t even count from 1 to 10 in Spanish (not that I could now). Barcelona is Catalan, so Spanish is 2nd language [...]

GPS Geotagging Workflow Glitches

May 26th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Despite arming myself with a decent GPS unit on a recent trip to the restricted area of Sha Tau Kok, I have yet to properly geotagged a bunch of photos I took.
PhotoGPSEditor is highly recommended for the task. Geotagging Automator Action making use of the Apple OS X Tiger Automator also seems an excellent [...]

Zooomr

May 21st, 2007 · Comments Off

Zooomr III is supposed to roll out last week. So it is delayed. BFD.
In the meantime, shit happened. In this Web 2.0 era, there is no excuse. People muck up.
The troll is funny.
We don’t need anyone to remind us Flickr sucks from the user feedback and free speech POV. Thomas Hawk’s criticism of Flickr is [...]

Argh!

May 19th, 2007 · Comments Off

I couldn’t fscking believe it! Got a bunch of photos geotagged, and imported into Aperture. Exported smaller photos. All metadata appear intact. Uploaded photos to Zooomr. No metadata. Uploaded photos to Flickr. Most metadata retained, but it doesn’t do anything about geo location. Noone’s got it all working.
Just as I thought I have achieved bliss [...]

Bruce Lee

May 18th, 2007 · Comments Off

Why Was I Not Informed About Bruce Lee?
Good thing Jasper’s already seen the Fist of Fury, and he is well aware that Bruce Lee was absolutely the best fighter, ever. Even better than Kamen Riders. Well Bruce is dead and so noone could ever hope to beat him.

It’s a Mess

May 17th, 2007 · Comments Off

First some obscure student paper was classified as obscene, and then some guy got done for linking to an obscene website.
Get your obscene T-shirt here. Oh crap now I am going to get done for distributing obscene articles too.

Injustice

First you are ripped off. Then you complain. And then you are censored. Read the story here.
You think you want to treat a service provider as a partner and try to maintain a long-term relationship. The fact is, long-term relationships sometimes deterioate, because people change. The only thing you could do is to keep yourself [...]

On the CUHK Student Paper Affair

May 16th, 2007 · Comments Off

Bad taste is not a disciplinary problem. It should be punished by criticism or ridicule, but never by censor.
Latest development (17/5 07:55): Reclassifying the Bible as ‘indecent’. Explanation for the simpleton.

Spiderman 3

May 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Went to the cinema to see Spiderman 3 yesterday afternoon. I like it a lot. While sequels are normally crap, the Spiderman movies remain excellent. We see new elements in the two sequels, and one main theme plus some side themes in each of them. In this one the main theme was choice. The bit [...]

I have just acquired a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx (as reviewed by the OpenStreetMap folks). This unit is quite amazing. It acquired the 4 GPS satellites to fix a 3D location in about a minute when I stood between the two towers at the Exchange Square yesterday. I also got very good reception sitting downstairs next [...]

Crappy Clock in My Fuji F11

May 6th, 2007 · Comments Off

I noticed that the clock of my Fuji F11 was way off on 6 April. I reset it, and now a month later, the clock in this modern digital camera is off by over 12 minutes. This is pretty sad for a digital device.

Oly E-410

May 5th, 2007 · Comments Off

I played with the Oly E-410 at a shop in Tuen Mun this afternoon. Absolutely adorable. It’s a little smaller and thinner than the already tiny Nikon D40x.
Except I have already spent all my gadget allowance this month. And as a matter of principle I only buy cameras these folks recommend.
