The Lady needs a laptop computer for her study during the upcoming holiday, so we went window shopping yesterday at Wanchai Computer Centre at Southorn.We looked at the Lenovo Thinkpad X61. The shops there sell a higher model than the one PCCW and Broadway are selling for just under HK$10K. For HK$1K more you get Bluetooth and 802.11n, and I think a slightly bigger harddisk. An extra 1GB RAM is HK$300. It would take the shop ~2 hours to upgrade the machine from Vista to WinXP, and there is a small discount for the Office 2007 package if you buy it with the computer. Not a bad deal at all.Tons of Asus EeePC around, and I presume available. I didn’t ask, for my cousin Billy who lives in Canada is going to help me acquiring an XOPC, which is a lot more fun.
