Landslide victory for the GMT at the Legislative Parliament. Most folks seem to think that GMT’s presidential candidate Ma will win in the forthcoming presidential election. I am afraid that they are overly optimistic.
Let’s face it, noone in Taiwan really likes the communists, although they do like communists’ money. The best thing the Taiwanese could do to keep getting benefits from the communists would be to maintain the status quo. We are talking about the balance of power, and the government dominated by a single political party is no good for this. I suspect that the Taiwanese voters would be mature enough and the DPP’s presidential candidate may still have a good chance, and it has nothing to do with the pendulum effect.
