The customer demography of Apple dealers, especially those in Central is very different to that of the average computer shop in SSP or MK. Their customers are often rich and powerful, and maybe even famous, and those dealers try very hard not to annoy them, ‘cos otherwise there may be dire consequences.
If I were a shop owner of one of these Apple dealers, I would make sure that I only allow people I trust to touch my customers’ computers, and I would make it very clear that they are not allowed to peek around or make unauthorized copies of my customers’ data. When offering a personal service, discreet is utmost important.
Now if one of my celebrity customer is involved in a data breach incident, I would at the first instance grill my technical support guys really hard, to ascertain whether we are the source of the breach. If so we would need to turn the guy(s) in. Note that destroying any incriminating data would be perversion of the course of justice, which is a serious criminal offence.
And if I were Apple, I would revoke that particular shop’s Apple dealership and issue a statement condemning the sloppy service, for damage control.
