The Lack of Service of Victorinox Hong Kong

August 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Victorinox Hong Kong has a shop in the IFC Mall, and used to sell Suunto watches there. I ordered a strap for my old man’s Vector there and the service was alright.

Not any more. So when one of the buttons on my Core stops working, I looked up on the Suunto website, which still lists Victorinox as the local agent. I called the number on the website, and was given another number of the “Customer Service” to call.

Some guy answered the phone, and straight away asked me whether my watch was “official import” and whether I have the receipt and the official warranty card. He then told me since the Core series is new the watch will be sent back to Finland to be repaired. He told me to bring it to their service centre in Kwun Tong (like I have the time or could be bothered to travel or the way there). I asked him whether I could take it to one of their shops but he insisted that I must bring it to their service centre. I complained about the poor service, but he was not apologetic at all, and he was only willing to reveal that his name was “Lee”, with initial “L”.

Aside from the fact that the watch was made in China so there would be no point in sending it back all the way to Finland, the conversation was just plain unpleasant.
