Firewire is nice, but getting rarer on external hard disks, and they all have a USB interface anyway.

The only usable digital interface on the DV is the Firewire port, but these days the selection of SD (Standard Definition) DVs is very limited, and almost all the HD DV cams are big machines meant for professionals, while HD camcorders using hard disks and solid state memory cards are far more popular. Most of these HD camcorders don’t have Firewire port, and connect to computer via USB.

I suppose I would be happy enough using one of those new MacBook w/o a Firewire port.
