Jamon (Spanish ham, drop the j when pronouncing, a bit like parma ham) sandwiches in Madrid. Pity I just had an excellent late lunch (~16:00 hours).

From the New Scientist.
Well not quite. It’s the Cavendish bananas. My favourite. It would be a real bummer.

Amazing. I suppose I could arrange for one to be shipped here, but the problem is the continuous supply (or rather the lack) of beer.

best before 14-6-2004 tasted absolutely foul. No idea why it was in the office fridge.
Also found a can of Coke Light best before 05-06-2005 in there.

Adventure at Délifrance

August 8th, 2005 · Comments Off

Jasper wasted a good red bean bun by spreading it all over the dinning table on Sunday morning, so I punished him by not giving him anything to eat for lunch. Later that day I took Jasper and our maid to Délifrance in Tuen Mun Town Centre for afternoon tea and snacks. You can’t stuff [...]

We had lunch at this place. Fairly decent Chinese-style Portuguese food. Price is quite reasonable, althou in general Macau is becoming an expensive place.

May I Never Have To Taste Another Big Mac

July 1st, 2005 · Comments Off

I tried Triple-O’s CS Burger for the first time last week. This thought striked me.
(I am not saying that the CS tastes that much better, or that the standard Burger doesn’t taste as good.)

Triple-O vs McDonalds

April 6th, 2005 · 7 Comments

A new Triple-O (Canadian burger restaurant I wrote about before) opened at the Exchange Square right opposite to the IFC. I gave it another go last week.
At the T-O, one pays for the food, grabs a receipt, and waits for the receipt number to be announced, then goes up to the counter to collect [...]

Häagen-Dazs

has just opened on L3 of the IFC, and a coupon for a free cup of ILLY coffee is going around the office via email.
Being a sucker for Free freebies, I visited their shop and claimed it. To be honest I think they should stick to selling ice-cream.
If I were to do the freebie properly, [...]

La Casino

January 17th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Dinner w/ the Lady and Jasper at La Casino, a very nice restaurant near the Pearl Island roundabout on Castle Peak Road, not too far from where we live. The place was less than half full, and very nice. The waiters were attentive but not overwhelming. Food was quite okay. Will definitely go again.

Atmosphere Taken to the Extreme

August 31st, 2004 · 2 Comments

I have had the misfortune to go to this “new style” Hakka restaurant in Tuen Mun Town Centre yesterday.
The food was edible. It was fairly crowded but I have seen worse. The biggest problem was the noise level. There was no fake ceiling in the main hall, so all the noise was bounced back into [...]

Cova at the Pacific Place

March 26th, 2004 · 1 Comment

Courtesy of DBS and my old man (who received two), we got a vouncher for high tea for two at Cova. It was expiring at the end of March, so we went to the one at PP yesterday.
It was crowded and noisy. We couldn’t help overhearing the aunties at the next table talking about their [...]

Triple O’s by White Spot

January 1st, 2004 · 2 Comments

On 31/12 we went to taste this place. Food was okay. Seating was typical food court, which I am not a great fan of. Jack in the Box was expensive, but this place is even more so.
Not impressed.

The Economists on Coffee-houses

December 27th, 2003 · Comments Off

Article.
The thing is, it is quite usual to walk into a pub and down a couple of pints (well, obviously not if one needs to get back to work), which means one spends quite considerable time there. Althou I suppose you could, but it just doesn’t seem right to me to go to your local [...]
