在教Jasper做剪報功課的時候，看到這篇文章。
吸引我注意力的是勞永樂的言論：
社區內有六千多名孕婦已感染豬流感，但只有一人嚴重，併發症風險即只是萬分之一點六，但現有兩名孕婦胎死腹中，有千四名孕婦打了針，即是風險為千分之一點四，換言之打針引致問題的風險，是感染後出現嚴重併發症風險的近十倍。
驟聽下好像很有道理，不過我想深一層，覺得邏輯不正確，因為到這刻都沒有証據，証明兩名胎死腹中的案例與疫苗有因果關係，故此這個所謂「千分之一點四」風險的法其實並不成立，「萬分之一點六」和「千分之一點四」這個比較亦沒有意義；還有更大的問題是，這樣比較，只會誤導大眾，誤以為不打針比較打針安全十倍。
其實，到了這個地步，理性討論對大眾已經沒有意義，因為恐懼已經令人先入為主覺得疫苗不安全。很難可以再說服大眾接受科學的結論。我想，之前在電視上接受訪問的婦產科醫生說得對，孕婦如果接受注射之後胎兒有事，不論是否與注射有關，父母皆會非常內咎。至此，恐懼戰勝科學。

2009年就完，又係時候做review同2010年展望。
今年比較懶，亦可能因為雜務纏身，故此學術上無甚進展。第一term修了科7字頭的古代史，可惜是自己放入去的時間真是不夠，否則可能所得更多。一月之後希望再重溫一下，多讀點有關古埃及和Mesopotamia的書和資料，寫兩篇短文做做練習。
十月做了現代農奴。地方環境都不錯，只可惜單位是比較細了一點。
2009年比較少離家遠行，只去了粵東幾天。看的東西不是太特別，幸好遇到很多好人。一月中應該會到廣東省一行，之後希望到二里頭探班，年中再到內蒙古考古之旅。
剛剛買了一套特價潛水裝備，來年應該會多點scuba。
希望2010年多讀點書，多點時間幫Jasper溫習，多點做寫作練習，常update這個blog。

去到graduate course，所讀readings又多又雜，任何一本書scan超過5%已經犯法啦！
Scan readings又的確係花時間心機之事，但係已付出之物，收收埋埋更係浪費剩餘價值。俾我就一定做個順水人情，開個email account大家自己去download。犯法？都係學習啫。
