While the HKSAR Govt is still p*ssing about with the language of instructions, we really should be reviewing the whole of education. Excellent talk. Take education of your children, back into your hands.

“Crack Cocaine of the Thinking World”

January 3rd, 2008 · Comments Off

The Edge Annual Question 2008: What have you changed your mind about? Why? Lots of good stuff. It was Slashdot that bought this to my attention, and quoting Sam Harris :-
Mother Nature is not our friend.
So Sam finally agrees with Laozi. In Tao Te Ching, paragraph 5:-
天地不仁,以萬物為芻狗
(which I roughly translate to “Mother Nature is [...]

Using Comment-Timeout Plugin to Fight Comment Spam

Excellent WordPress plug-in. This closes commenting for older posts, so spammers would have a smaller number of posts to inject their crap. I’ll see how it works out.
Update (3/1): Seems to work very well.

The Ricoh Aficio FX200

November 6th, 2007 · Comments Off

Read about this special offer in the paper. B/W laser printer, B/W photocopier, B/W/colour fax and colour scanner all-in-one. Special price at HK$2,499. My employer uses Ricoh fax and photocopiers and they have been solid. I personally would prefer something with Postscript or PS emulation and duplex printing, but this looks like a reasonable deal.
